The Neuroscience of Tarot: You need this book!

Posted on February 23, 2025April 7, 2025 by Nicole

This is my personal blog space, where I come to draft my incomprehensible deep dives into Tarot and numerology. It looks like nothing is happening in this space and yet this blog is full of drafts that I am working on. No one visits here, but I am writing this article in case someone stumbles across this blog.

This book is IMPORTANT. If you’re going to read cards, plot numbers, and planets, or do any prognosticating, you need a copy of this book.

So often, in the divinatory world, we binge-buy decks and books about reading cards—like we have this insatiable hole that we think one more beginner book or RWS clone will fill. I promise you, it won’t. There is no need to have a shelf full of the same ideas on repeat.

I am halfway through this book. When I brought it home, I wanted to do an all-night reading binge, but life was lifing, and there was just no time for indulging myself. I have been carving out a few minutes to read here and there.

If you are one of my patrons, I discussed this book and shared a bit about the visual cleansing exercise starting on page 20. Go look for the private post.

ANYWAY!

I studied neuroscience at Dalhousie University. Unfortunately, I was a single parent before it was cool, so there were no programs to help me afford to stay, and I only got part of a degree.

BUT!

I still love science, and I love it even more when other scientists publicly proclaim that they are mystics also and write really intelligent books about it that cut through the woo. This very excellent book is a reminder that once upon a time, science and mysticism were one and the same.

Magick is just science that isn’t yet fully understood.

It’s a shame Dr. Ramakrishnan’s Tarot is out of stock. I will just have to put it on my Christmas list. His website is BrainMystic. You should go check it out!!

I got my first deck of Tarot cards when I was 17. It was a Marseille deck and kicked off a journey that has taken 35 years and counting! These cards were a gateway to history, numerology, astrology, art, and magick. The earliest known Marseille deck was created in 1639. Before that, the Visconti Sforza decks were created in 1450. Those who think the Rider Tarot is the OG - you would be mistaken. This is the space where I will be infrequently sharing my thoughts on Tarot.
